Cruising with Pets - Offered by
sevenseasu.com, the educational arm of the Seven Seas Cruising Association (SSCA), this interactive
webinar is offered in three 1 1/2 hour sessions over three week nights -- usually one night a week for three consecutive weeks.
The class is geared toward the offshore, international, or tropical cruiser, and the coastal cruising liveaboard. Dr.
Dave covers a lot of material that is in his book
Where There Is No Pet Doctor along with some of the information from
Pets On Board?
Adapting Your Pet to Travel By Boat or RV. You will also get insights and touch on topics that are not in the books. Are you
interested in how to keep your dog or cat healthy while living aboard, how to deal with routine health problems that might arise along
the way, or hazards that your pet might encounter while "out there"? How about import regulations and getting your pet prepared
to enter the various locations you may visit? It's all here. If you have questions that revolve around your own pet and
problems you think you might encounter, the webinar offers the opportunity to ask them and get a personalized answer right there in
the "classroom." Dr. Dave has repeatedly had positive feedback from webinar participants, and those who attend invariably get far
more than their moneysworth and course material is updated regularly. The webinar is generally offered twice a year, usually
in the Spring and Fall. Click on the link to see if it is on the schedule for the near future. The cost is very reasonable and
you do not need to be an SSCA member to sign up.
If you are a freshwater or inland cruiser, check out the
Cruising with Pets
inland version webinar offered by the Great Lakes Cruising Club through their
GLCCSchool. This class is directed specifically at those
who are cruising the Great Lakes and inland waters of the U.S. and Canada. We deal with some of the health problems you might encounter,
potential hazards and health issues you need to know about, how to have your pet prepared to check into the U.S. or Canada, and more.
The class is offered during the winter or early Spring in preparation for the Great Lakes cruising season. Click on the link and then
go to "GLCC School." Check us out. The cost is very reasonable. You do not need to be a GLCC member to sign up.
My
Island
Hopping to the Caribbean webinar is also offered by
sevenseasu.com and covers much of the material (and then some)
that is in our popular book of the same name. It is NOT a veterinary or pet-related course. This class is aimed at those who
are wondering about traveling to the Caribbean aboard their own vessel, whether sail or power, and who want to know
what is involved, what you need to think about and consider prior to leaving, what reference sources you will need, and whether you
want to do it now or sometime far in the future. It is jam packed with practical, real life information. The material
is all geared toward the novice passagemaker and does not make that presumption that you have lived your entire life aboard, an issue
that is so often inherent in many cruising presentations. Captain Doctor Dave then literally takes you along on his trip, from
his Miami departure and first crossing of the Gulf Stream to the Bahamas, down through the Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos to the
Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands and on to the Leeward Islands, where he leaves you considering just how realistic
it might be for you to sail off and live your dream. The interactive format offers you the possibility to ask your own questions
and get those answers that sometimes are so hard to find, and no question is too simple to ask. This class is very popular and
often has thirty or more attendees. Student feedback has been extremely positive. The webinar is presented in three,
full 1 1/2 hour sessions offered over three nights, usually one night a week for three weeks. Course material is kept as up to date
as possible and it is generally offered in the Spring and Fall. Click on the above link and find out if it's on the upcoming
agenda. Again, the cost is very reasonable and you need not be an SSCA member to take this course.
